Abstract

Faced with the social isolation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, children have carried out various cognitive emotional regulation strategies in the face of anxiety, depression and anger. The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between coping strategies and levels of anxiety, depression and anger in boys and girls aged 9 to 11 years in Mexico. A non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational design was used. The sample consisted of 500 participants, 50% girls and 50% boys, with an age range between 9 and 11 years. The following scales were used: CERQ-k, SCAS, CDI (validated for the Mexican population) and Development for the Anger Inventory for Mexican Children. High correlations were found between the maladaptive strategies of Self-Blame and Rumination with Separation Anxiety and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. It is suggested to carry out and implement intervention programs that support boys and girls to overcome the effectsof social isolation caused by the pandemic.
