The density of atmospheric discharges to earth is an important and difficult variable to select when determining the risk of lightning. Mixed research of the historical-logical method, whose objective is to demonstrate the statistical importance of this parameter; using historical information of five years, obtained from the registration of a local detection radar. The results of the calculations made through a comparative study against official data are validated and corroborated. The results were satisfactory; the objective data of the area become tools to increase the reliability of the evaluation and its interpretation in atmospheric safety; based on evaluations of practical cases with border values, including aspects of fuzzy logic in the determination.
